Reports have been coming in from NRS users who are being blocked from calling through internet relay because their ISPs are regarded as foreign. Others are waiting 15-30 minutes to be connected to a relay officer.

It’s tragic that the Government will axe CapTel despite the huge impact it will have on older Australians. But the rapid deterioration in the rest of the NRS service is truly shocking.

There are grave concerns now for the safety of deaf people if emergency calls need to be made.

On Saturday morning 30 November we earnestly requested an immediate, emergency intervention by the Minister’s office.
